Pietersite is sometimes called the "tempest stone", and the name fits. Its chatoyant bands of blue, gold, and red seem to shift under light, the result of brecciated tiger's eye fibers recrystallized under intense geological pressure. It's a rarer, more dramatic cousin to standard tiger's eye, found in only a handful of locations worldwide.
